Horse of the Night

KENNANS NANCY LEE (7TH) : I’ve had her in this spot the last two weeks but last week she came up a step short after a tough trip and had to settle for the bridesmaid role. She put together a very impressive slate of 13-9-2 in 30 starts in 2014 and it looks like she’s ready to get her 2015 campaign off to a quick start. She seems to do her best work when coming from just off the pace and that’s where she’ll probably be from this spot in the second tier so let’s stick with the “hot-horse” in this spot.

Keep an Eye On These

FOX VALLEY HANSON (2ND) : Tuned up for his return with a 22-length qualifying victory. Talented 4yo obviously has some issues but it sure looks like he’s ready for a big effort so let’s give him the call.
WELL DUNE (4TH) : Owns a big closing kick and he should be in good striking position with the improved post and a short field. Look for him to sweep by them all in the late going tonight.
DON’TDOUBTTHELAKERS (5TH) : Speedball should be able to make the lead tonight and that’s when he’s at his best. If he can avoid the early duel while gaining control of things he could prove very tough to catch.

Backstretch Info

FOX VALLEY CUPID (9TH) : Gelding finds some very favorable conditions tonight as he moves back in with NW 3/4 and he gets big time post relief which should put him on or near the lead every step of the way. He carved out all the splits before settling for the runner-up role behind a very tough runaway winner at Balmoral two starts back then ran into that same “beast” in his last start when he finished fourth. Look for Smolin to hustle him out of there to protect rail position and that should put him in the perfect spot to open his 2015 season with a victory.
