Horse of the Night

FINANCIAL EFFORT (9TH) : Classy veteran takes a meaningful class drop after fading late against a very strong winner in her last outing. This speedy six-year-old posted a win and a second at this level in her starts two and three back and she certainly appears to be well placed tonight. With her quick turn of foot leaving the gate she should be in command right from the word go this evening. As long as Leonard can “rein” her in for a bit of a breather somewhere along the way she should be home free in wire to wire fashion tonight.

Tonight's Long Shots

Keep an Eye On These

THE DOE (1ST) : Could not muster up the needed closing kick while battling a little tougher in her last. She’s back in with non-winners tonight and she should be in perfect striking position so let’s give her another shot.
PERFECTLY CLEAR (2ND) : Dropped to this level 2 starts back and she’s been very sharp in both of those efforts. She has the speed to gain a good early spot and that is going to make her very dangerous in here.
SEEKIN FOR GLAMOUR (5TH) : Mare has chased an absolute “brut” in her last three tries at Balmoral. Her speed is tailor made for this half-mile oval and if she can avoid getting hooked up in an early duel she’s going to be tough to beat tonight.

Backstretch Info

HOT STREAK HANOVER (3RD) : Overcame a starting spot in the second tier last time out by sweeping to the front after the quarter and never looking back. This gelding has now won three of his last four starts when in for a $4,000 tag and tonight he figures to have clear sailing while heading to the front. His conditioner has sent out 10 starters this season and has been on the board in nine of the 10 starts. If this speedball can get away with an easy quarter somewhere along the way he figures to be very difficult to collar in here.

Press box picks will be posted at least 24 hours prior to race date.
